Strengthening, Inspiring & Supporting
Energy Industry Leaders of the Future, Today

Welcome to FILP - The Future Industry Leaders Programme

FILP is a unique cross industry leadership programme designed to develop, equip and empower the individuals who will enable and lead the energy sector as our world transitions and emerges into a green energy future.

Originally launched in 2016 as a support to the oil &  gas industry as it emerged from one of its worst downturns, we have evolved to address the challenges and opportunities offered by Vision 2035, decarbonisation, net zero, energy security and most recently the balancing of the global transition we face in energy sources as an industry, nation and world.

However, the core purposes of FILP remain the same – to increase self awareness and confidence; to encourage individual and corporate responsibility; and ultimately develop healthy, sustainable leadership behaviour that transforms and strengthens the whole energy sector.

Over 200 leaders have now benefited from this experience and are helping to decarbonise traditional oil and gas, supporting their organisations through the energy transition, and transferring skills into renewable projects. Our growing FILP network spans across the full scope of the green energy sector.

FILP plays its part in empowering the people who power energy. Let us help you play your part too.

We are now inviting applicants for the next intake of the Future Industry Leaders Programme in 2024.

What do you gain from being part of FILP?

FILP enables individuals to play their part in the evolution of the energy industry by exploring who they are and how their leadership can and will make a positive impact for themselves, their colleagues and their community.

Many of the skills, behaviours and qualities covered during the course of the FILP experience align closely with the Inner Development Goals. IDGs are a set of transformative skills that have been identified as required in order to help us individually and collectively reach the Sustainable Development Goals.

Although we don’t like to give away too much about the content of the programme and spoil your learning experience, you can be guaranteed opportunities to to work on many of these areas.

2024 Programme

We are now seeking applicants for the Future Industry Leaders Programme.

The Energy Jobs Task Force commissioned this high impact Future Industry Leaders Programme in 2016, to ensure the next generation of industry leaders have the skills and support to drive positive change. The content and focus of FILP is refreshed regularly to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the sector and individuals participating.

With 16 groups having completed FILP so far, the programme is now open for a further 3 cohorts for 36 leaders with a passion and potential to lead their organisation and the industry into the future. FILP has been designed to support lasting and sustainable change and ensure leaders with the drive and determination to make an impact broaden their understanding beyond their own organisation. It builds confidence to influence, equips leaders to navigate through times of change and complexity, realising the opportunities that are on the other side of the toughest of our leadership challenges on a personal, organisational and industry level.

We are looking for capable and determined individuals who are forward thinking and currently hold a managerial, supervisory or senior role within their organisation and are passionate about the future of the sector.

Applications are welcome from several individuals across an organisation, but a maximum of three employees per company will be selected and they should take part in different retreat dates.

If you believe you have the potential to drive positive industry change we encourage you to apply.

This is an opportunity to attend a cutting edge programme designed to fulfill industry needs.

This behavioural based programme is a unique opportunity to review your own personal leadership style and be equipped with innovative tools used by senior leaders in multinational organisations, who have faced similar industry challenges.

You are promised an energising and insightful programme, with equal measure of challenge and support to equip you with the skills required to be an industry leader of the future.

We are looking to recruit 12 participants per programme for this intensive and impactful development experience which includes:

  • Leadership Retreat 30th January – 2nd February 2024 or 27th February – 1st March 2024 or 12th – 15th March 2024
  • 3 Leadership Coaching Sessions over 6 months post retreat (3 x 1.5 hour sessions)
  • Leadership Learning Circle  September 2024 (1/2 day)

As part of the programme you will also identify a current leadership or organisational challenge that you can impact.

Your organisation will need to authorise and fund £4995 +VAT.

Bursaries towards the cost of FILP may be available to SME’s (Small / Medium Enterprises). Please contact for more information.
